TWIS#6

This week in science, we worked with crickets, and also with jelly beans. On 12/5/11(lesson 2: cricket investigation) we had two parts to our lesson. For  part 1 we had to do background research, including ten peaces of information on crickets. When doing part 2 we had to write down "Two Choice" experiments. Then on 12/6/11 (lesson 3: Data day: Crickets) we observed the crickets in groups, and had to make a poster, on weather they prefer the wet or dry sides of their tank. On 12/8/11 (lesson 4: Jelly Bean)

Cricket investigation

Do Crickets Prefer Fruit or Vegetables?

Hypothesis: The crickets will be neutral towards them both, because, in nature they have no choice between fruit or vegetable.

Background Research: -Crickets feed on almost anything. ( usually organic things, if nothing organic is available, they will eat their own dead species.)
-Adult Females Have: Long ovipositor ( ventrally attached, it may appear as two pieces)
-Immature Crickets: Look like adults, but don't have fully developed wings.
-Predators of crickets: Spiders, some wasps, ground beetles, birds, small rodents, and lizards.
